Paris, 26 July, 2019 – Forsee Power, the French specialist in smart battery systems for urban mobility, is gaining traction in the UK market via CaetanoBus, a manufacturer selected by operator Abellio to equip two electric bus routes in London. A total of 34 buses will be delivered from the first quarter of 2020.

Forsee Power has been a partner of the Portuguese leader CaetanoBus since 2017 and equips the e.City Gold range, for the cities of Guimarães, Porto, Braga, Aveiro and Lisbon.

For the London market, CaetanoBus vehicles will be equipped with Forsee Power’s Zen 35 technology. Each of the 34 buses, whose autonomy will reach 230 km, will embark on its roof 350 kWh of energy. Zen technology, incorporating NMC cells, allows a day of operations with night charging at the depot.

As a result of the order for the vehicles to CaetanoBus, Forsee Power Zen batteries are entering the UK market. This technology also equips the vehicles of the French manufacturers Heuliez and Alstom, selected by the RATP in Paris as part of the largest call for European bus offers in April this year.

While the UK market is giving pride of place to Chinese manufacturers, this alliance demonstrates that European players can compete in the most competitive markets in a context of sustainable energy transition,” said Sebastien Rembauville-Nicolle, Director of the Smart Transport Division at Forsee Power.

A presence of Forsee Power in the UK and European market since 2013

Forsee Power has been present in the UK market since 2013 with the Irish manufacturer Wrightbus, equipping its 100% electric and hybrid hydrogen buses. Forsee Power has already delivered hundreds Flex 7 battery systems to power several 100% electric bus lines in the United Kingdom. It will soon supply nearly 90% of the hydrogen buses of the JIVE project (Joint Initiative for Hydrogen Vehicles Across Europe), with its high-power Pulse 2.5 solution, to be rolled out by 2020.

The Forsee Power group has the most complete range of batteries for the transport market and thus meets all the needs for the electrification of public transport. The company even goes beyond the battery, offering financing solutions and management of the second life and end of battery life.

The Pulse range – Pulse 15 and Pulse 2.5 –

The Pulse range (power range) offers buses fast charging capabilities (3-5 min at the depot, 15-25 times a day). It can also be used with hybrid fuel-cell buses.

The Flex – Flex 7 range –

With a 150 kWh Flex battery system, a bus can travel more than 320 km daily thanks to the opportunity recharge. An induction charging system of 120 kW can recharge the battery to 40% in 30 minutes.

The range Zen – Zen 4 and Zen 35 –

The Zen range provides a very high energy density (300-500 kWh), which allows buses to perform a day of operations in total autonomy. The charge is made overnight at the depot.
