ZEN 55 LFP RAIL

High-energy batteries engineered for rail

Rail electrification requires battery systems capable of combining high energy, long operating life, stringent safety requirements and easy vehicle integration.

ZEN LFP RAIL has been specifically developed to address these challenges. Its modular architecture allows railway manufacturers and system integrators to configure the battery system according to the energy, voltage and integration requirements of each vehicle.

Based on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry, the platform combines competitive cost with long cycle life and robust safety characteristics, making it particularly suited to railway applications requiring large amounts of onboard energy over extended operating periods.

Two battery formats. One scalable rail platform.

ZEN 36 LFP RAIL

The 36 kWh ZEN LFP RAIL is a compact high-energy battery pack designed for flexible integration into railway vehicles.

Its modular architecture enables several packs to be connected in series, reaching up to 324 kWh with nine packs and a nominal system voltage of 1,395 V.

With up to 6,000 cycles, the solution is designed for railway applications where long operating life and optimized Total Cost of Ownership are essential.

ZEN 55 LFP RAIL

The 55 kWh ZEN LFP RAIL provides greater energy capacity per battery pack for applications requiring large onboard energy storage systems.

Six packs connected in series provide 330 kWh of embedded energy, with a nominal voltage of 1,392 V. Multiple battery branches can then be integrated according to the total energy requirements of the vehicle.

With an energy density of 227 Wh/L and specific energy of 145 Wh/kg, ZEN 55 LFP RAIL combines high onboard energy with a compact modular architecture.

Supporting multiple rail electrification strategies

ZEN LFP RAIL can support different railway architectures, from battery-electric to hybrid vehicles. The system enables onboard energy storage for catenary-free and catenary-less operation and can store recovered energy for subsequent use.

Its scalable architecture makes the platform suitable for a broad range of rolling stock, including trains, locomotives, trams and other railway vehicles.

Safety and rail certification at the core

ZEN LFP RAIL combines the thermal stability of LFP chemistry with liquid thermal management and Forsee Power’s proprietary BMS technology. Integrated balancing, SIL2 voltage and temperature monitoring, alarms and CAN communication contribute to safe and reliable operation.

The platform is certified according to key battery and railway standards, including
